Here are a few cases that mas have completed over the years. We strive to provide the best possible service for our clients.

Case 1 Sheet Metal Fabrication Company

When MAS was approached by this client, he was four years behind with his accounts and tax returns. He was being pursued by the Revenue and was due in court
within two weeks. mas persuaded the Revenue to hold fire while accounts and tax returns were produced. Client is now fully up to date with accounts, tax returns and payments.

Case 2 Recording Studio

Client is a small recording studio, recently commenced in business. He was unsatisfied with previous adviser because he couldn’t see how his operation came to have made the profit stated in the accounts or have the consequent tax commitment. mas revisited the past two accounting periods, and taxable profits were reduced to zero.

Case 3 Furniture Maker

Client made bespoke pine furniture which was sold out through a retail shop for cash. Previous adviser had produced accounts showing £20,000 taxable profit. On investigation, MAS noticed that there was £16,000 in the accounts as debtors (in a cash business!). The accounts were revisited on a contingency basis, and the income tax liability was reduced to nil.

Case 4 Public House

MAS was approached by the landlord who was having difficulty contacting his previous adviser, with a VAT return due. He had been in trade only six months and had made one previous VAT return. mas took on the routine bookkeeping and revisited the
previous VAT return, encompassing the start up period. Revised figures led to a saving of over £1,000 VAT.

Case 5 Electrical Contractor

This client had a difficult way of accounting for his work-in-progress. Previous advisers had been unable to get to grip with it, and his accounting staff was overstretched
and under trained. mas installed a new accounting package and codified the WIP treatment; we also recommended improvements in staffing. Management Accounts are now timely and accurate, and there was a significant tax saving.
